Artist statement
Within this new painting series a wide stretcher emphasizes form and mass whilst also providing a framework for the image to function as a unit protruding from the wall. Each composition is constructed using one single motif; a double curved line, which is inverted, elongated, repeated and alternated in order to present formularized but determined geometrical structures.
The adherence to the singular motif reveals an interest in minimalist principles, however the resulting image is far from minimal as the motif is repeated many times in order to enhance the illusory possibilities of each composition. Hence the works possess several contradictory points of focus, i.e. they are decorative yet minimal and they are illusory yet physical.
