Artist Statement
Within this new painting series a wide stretcher emphasizes form and mass whilst also providing a framework for the image to function as a unit, protruding from the wall. Symmetry and centricity within geometrical motifs make reference to natural constructs evident in our own bodies, i.e. the balance present in facial structure and patterns in nature.
Whilst these paintings may be personal revelations of process, visual possibility and aesthetic attitude, they are also, like so many other inventions, extensions of the physical self: an inescapable condition of the object artist.
